A VISIT TO THE TEST PLANT.

Micro-Mark had a sale on rollers. They're useful for running-in a mechanism before putting the locomotive in service on a short railroad with no continuous running. They're also useful for checking one's engineering. Here a Hiawatha gets a checkout. The red clip-lead to the frame and to the engineer's side brush terminal ensures proper polarity. First run it slowly to see that all fits, then try a faster speed.

I shut off the flash unit so as to emphasize the blur. She'll do a scale 125 easily. Now to engineer the valve motion so it won't seize. At those scale speeds, the wreckage isn't pretty.
