In order to win a war, you first have to have the will and intention to wage a war. Nobody, [Victor Davis] Hanson included, has demonstrated anything like the will needed to defeat our Islamist enemies. Instead, to a lesser or greater degree, none of these people - from the Hansons to the Bushes - are talking about actually waging a war.And what has been going on offers depressing confirmation of Candidate Bush's doubts, in the October 2000 presidential debates, about the usefulness of U.S. involvement in nation-building, or of the utility of using the military for that job.
