In beating second-ranked Pittsburgh, 89-75, in front of a raucous crowd of 17,190 at the Kohl Center, the Badgers proved that they can not only play with the best teams in the nation but also beat them handily.

The three-headed monster of seniors Alando Tucker and Kammron Taylor and junior Brian Butch did the heavy lifting as seventh-ranked Wisconsin improved to 11-1. It was Wisconsin's highest victory over a ranked opponent since it beat No. 2 Minnesota, 66-65, March, 8, 1997.

That March 8 win came under very different circumstances, as the tournament pairings were settled by then.
