Marquette University political scientist John "Marquette Warrior" McAdams loses his initial legal challenge to the university's ultimatum that he apologize for publicly calling out a graduate assistant over course conduct, or face being dismissed for cause. "Judge David Hansher found that Marquette University had the legal right to terminate the professor over a blog post on his Marquette Warrior blog in November 2014." The judge is ruling on the due process aspects of the case. Professor McAdams and his legal team continue to view the university's position as destructive of academic freedom. "Judge Hansher adopted the FHC’s cramped and unsupported view of academic freedom and the First Amendment. He concluded that because naming Abbate could conceivably bring negative attention to her, McAdams was prohibited from doing so."
