THIS IS A BIT MUCH. Long ago, a Milwaukee Hamilton basketball team won a state championship. From time to time, surviving players and coaches gather. In those days, however, a long road trip was to Pewaukee, and the closest thing to a recruiting scandal would be a neighborhood player transferring out of the Catholic Conference (where there were allegations of tuition waivers) to enroll at Hamilton (note, almost never at Pulaski or Juneau.) More recently, Hamilton's resurgent basketball program has taken on some of the attributes of a renegade college program. No matter, though, as long as the program keeps winning.

Milwaukee Hamilton, the No. 1-ranked boys basketball team in the area by the Journal Sentinel, suffered its first loss of the season Tuesday at the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Wildcats (4-1) were defeated, 64-51, by Cedar Hill (Texas) in a second-round game at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

Oops. A Wisconsin team plays a Texas team at a holiday tournament in Myrtle Beach. I wonder how many child buyers assistant basketball coaches were in attendance. No word on whether the astronomy club (there once was a planetarium at Hamilton) made a side trip to the Kennedy Space Center.
