RONALD REAGAN, INTELLECTUAL. On the Sunday opinion shows, I neither saw nor heard any flying pigs, but some of the guests were noteworthy. Senator Lieberman of Connecticut, asked to comment on Arnold Schwarzenegger's run for the California governor's job, compared his candidacy unfavorably with Ronald Reagan's. President Reagan, noted Senator Lieberman, thought and wrote extensively on politics before his run at the State House. In other instances of Donk politicians telling the truth, Oakland's Mayor (and term-limited Assembly Speaker) Brown observed, in defense of Governor Davis, that no one individual shoulders the blame for economic difficulties (per corollary, no one individual deserves credit for episodes of prosperity), and Senator Feinstein claims that an economic recovery is underway in California in advance of the recall election.
