BILL BLUM'S KINSLEY GAFFE.

The concluding paragraph of his predictable Common Dreams lament about what happens when sanctuary city officials refuse to cooperate with immigration authorities by, oh, handing over illegal aliens being held on local criminal charges, includes an admission that ought to be obvious.
The struggle against ICE and our emerging dual state is now approaching a critical inflection point. We can be heartened by the fact that the United States is not Germany in 1933, and Trump, for all his bluster and megalomania, is not Hitler. The country’s fate remains open, and dependent on the nonviolent and lawful collective action that we—all of us—take in the coming weeks, months, and years.
Yes, the country's fate remains open, and yes, for the moment I am restricting my participation in lawful collective action to voting for local officials who will help the federal immigration authorities enforce the federal immigration laws.

We can talk about making legal immigration pathways less burdensome when Common Dreams types and their establishmentarian enablers in coastal media and Democrat caucuses stop treating four years of open border policy as fait accompli.
