SING THE ANTHEM PROPERLY. Newmark's Door has the latest instance of a singer mis-handling the "Star-Spangled Banner" before a sporting event, this time with video of some help for the singer off the bench.

What is it about sporting events that requires the "Star-Spangled Banner" to be sung badly? The preferred singer tends to be somebody who uses the wrong words, mispronounces the right words, takes a breath at the wrong time, or messes with the meter. It's the National Anthem you're singing, not Brunnhilde's Immolation. No reason to hold that last "free" until the castle burns down.
