WE'RE STILL HERE.

Today is "Earth Day" in some circles, and I take this opportunity to call attention to how wrong the people who have been, for the past fifty years, suggesting that we are done for, by noting that, to the contrary, we're still here.

I'm hoping that the failure of the coronavirus contagion and death models to track reality a month or two out has given people motivation to understand how less reliable the climate models warning of doom in a century are than those epidemic models.

My 2022 "We're Still Here" calls the roll, as of a year ago, of the most egregious scares that haven't materialized.

Reason's Ronald Bailey went through his magazine's archives.  "To celebrate Earth Day 2023, we are recycling a selection of some of Reason's most incisive articles addressing the issues of population, pollution, resource depletion, biodiversity, energy, and the ideological environmentalists' penchant for peddling doom."

Perhaps the best indicator of resource depletion, or its absence, is in a Pepto-Bismol blurb, with a choreographed production number calling attention to heartburn, nausea, indigestion, upset stomach, diarrhea.  Had there been a real emergency by now, preparing such a message, in which the words and the dance motions scan, would have been frivolous.  No, they did not put it on their You Tube channel, which, in its own way, is also encouraging.
