That night, Hooty the Great Horned Owl was surveying the neighborhood from atop a nearby house.
The lot of a little lagomorph is not a happy one. The nest is now empty, and a partly-eaten carcass turned up during the weekend's mowing. There are lots of possible suspects: several neighborhood Outdoor Cats, or perhaps Wile E. Coyote, or Reddy Fox, or Hooty. The Outdoor Cats are probably not popular with any of the local birders, as going fowling is almost as much fun as worrying the bunnies.
