FROST ON THE PUMPKIN, AND MARIAH CAREY ON THE RADIO.

For Hallowe'en, cities along Lake Michigan got a dose of lake effect snow.  (So much for snowfalls being a thing of the past?)  In DeKalb, conditions were chilly and blustery, but clear enough skies for people to be out and about.

That house won the people's choice award in the DeKalb house decorating contest two years running.  No three-peat for them, despite a few more features and animations being present for this year.  Cold Spring Shops headquarters added a modest electric pumpkin, just to get in on the spirit.

The porch light is on, which used to be the signal that treats are available.

Fewer than a hundred youngsters braved the elements, and the traffic skewed to middle schoolers more than it does on more temperate nights.

This year, apparently Music Choice wanted to get to the Festive Season, with Frank Sinatra's "Got your love to keep me warm" just after midnight, eastern time, followed by the Four Freshmen's rendition of "Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas."  Fifty minutes later Mariah Carey got into the rotation.
