The Milwaukee Brewers had an opportunity to take the quarantine-shortened season series from the Cubs, and gain some ground toward making the playoffs.
They committed three errors, gave up twelve runs, and got themselves no-hit by "Alec Mills, who entered the game with a 4.74 earned run average." That's after a Saturday night game where they took a two run lead into the ninth inning and Cub hitters solved closer Josh Hader.
In the Cities, the Packers gave up six points on two-point conversions. Fortunately, both offensive platoons were sharper than the defenses (perhaps there is some value to those exhibition games) and the Packers won 43-34 (is garbage time in the fourth quarter now a thing?) "Green Bay will play its home opener next Sunday against Detroit, which blew a big lead in a 27-23 loss to Chicago."
It could always be worse in Detroit, I suppose, after getting smacked 19-0 by the Brewers a few days ago, the Tigers gave up another fourteen runs or so to the White Sox.
Meanwhile, the poobahs of the Big Ten are looking for ways to start football sometime in October.
