1. A Wisconsin state senator called Janet Bewley is stupid about being smart. "Participating in a 'legislative roundtable' sponsored by the Wisconsin Counties Association, Bewley questioned the intelligence of voters who refused to vote for higher taxes. When given a chance to retract her statement, Bewley refused."
2. The opportunity for polished populism. "Now that their constituents have had enough, politicians on the Right are fast departing from the COVID tyranny, and attempting to secure what is left of their political aspirations."
3. Respect the institutions. "If we are seeking to reclaim the nation’s soul after the last four years, 'our founding ideals were a racist lie' is not a great place to start."
4. Low expectations, anyone? "Honestly, liberals don’t give the African-American community any credit, do they?"
5. Reality is socially conservative. "What this glob of word salad and gaslighting is really asking is 'be less a product of Western Civilization – the most humane civilization in a human history dominated by tyrants, war, oppression, disease and early death – and shush up as we return to an era of aristocrats, knights, and vassals'."
6. The disinterest in school choice? "For some parents, it’s more important that their child play in the basketball tournament than learn anything in an English class."
7. Expertise means knowing more and more about less and less. "Normal does not mean the CDC grants permission to enjoy life again; normal means ignoring the CDC and enjoying life anyway."
