THE PERVERTED PRIORITIES OF PANDEMIC POLITICS.

At the beginning of the coronavirus tyranny, New York governor Andrew "thug with a speech impediment" Cuomo was a media darling.  Then the truth about the carnage in New York's care homes came out.

Now, New York legislators and other public officials who never acted in a constitutional way to rein in his autocratic impulses would like him to step out of line and disappear.  Not, though, for contributing to some fifteen thousand preventable deaths.

Democratic members of the state legislature — the only body with the authority to remove the governor — held their fire until the sexual-harassment claims emerged.

In other words, progressives clearly consider crimes relating to life and death secondary to those involving sleazy come-ons.

As candidate and as president, Donald Trump said a great many foolish things. "We are being governed by really stupid people" was not one of them.
