WHAT IS THE POWER AGAINST TYPE I ERROR?

Green Bay Packer quarterback Aaron Rodgers is in trouble for testing positive for Wuhan coronavirus and then for parsing words about being immunized, which meant "not vaccinated" in his case.  It's giving the Packers an opportunity to see how the succession is going to turn out, as, by league rule, he can't play today.  That game starts later this afternoon.

For now, a relatively simple observation.  “I tested over 300 times before finally testing positive. Like I said, it was probably from a vaccinated individual,” Rodgers said.  That's a classic problem in statistical inference, if you look for something enough you'll eventually find it, whether it is there or not.

There's a research project for somebody.  A goodly number of professional athletes in all sports have missed games account a positive corona test.  A few have reported frank symptoms, although the dog that isn't barking is the number of athletes who follow their positive test with the three negative tests that allow them, if vaccinated according to league standards, to return to play, and it's also useful to know how many of the people who did have to sit reported no symptoms at all, even with a second positive test.
