WHAT FUTURE FOR THESE KIDS?

Freedom Weekend begins with Canada's Dominion Day.  I don't know if they still put a portrait of the British Monarch on some of their currency or their stamps.  The portraits for the rest of this century might be lined up on this balcony.

The tads, in particular Louis, were quite the hit at the recent celebration.  But the tale of their next-elders might be cause for pessimism.

The queen's children had the misfortune to come of age during the Consciousness Revolution, and that might be why we see Not-Jill-Biden standing by Charles's saluting hand.  She could not arrange a marriage of Anne in order to cement an alliance with Prussia, nor could she command Andrew to serve as Viceroy of the British Virgin Islands.  Oh, shame on me for alluding to Jeffrey Epstein!

Also missing from the picture, or any of the official pictures, are Harry and Megan.  It's unfortunate that tabloid journalists, particularly in the United States, view actors and singers, or professional athletes, or Democrat politicians, or the British royal family, as all of a piece for titillating headlines.  But, again, there's no more arranging of marriages to cement alliances, or viceroyships or ambassadorships in obscure postings, to keep the supporting cast out of public view.

Andrew's children are still part of the official party, although they are sufficiently far from the line of succession (unlike Elizabeth in the mid-1930s) to be of much interest apart from those tabloids.

It's going to be a few years until the tads come of age, and I hope, probably in vain, that their future will not be as tabloid fodder.
