SHE'S BEEN HAD.

A Feminist Regrets is a recent American Thinker column.
A recent letter to advice columnist Dear Abby from a 32-year-old single woman caught my attention.

Her 20s were spent in a serious long-term relationship. When that ended, she took a couple of years to "sow her wild oats" and to find out who she was as an individual.

She is now looking for something more than "friends with benefits." The problem is that the last few men she has met on dating sites and gone on dates with were just looking for hookups. At 32 and painfully aware that her biological clock is ticking, she seeks a life partner.
Reality was leading by several runs thirty years ago, some people are slow learners.
Declaring themselves feminists in their college years and seduced by the siren song of sex without consequences, they too "sowed their wild oats" throughout their twenties. Now in their thirties and beyond, their biological clocks tick louder each day as the years inexorably slip by.

They are learning the hard way that all actions have consequences, some immediate, some belated.
Sounds like that long-ago editorial, doesn't it? "Today the only victors in the sexual revolution are those men and women who are good-looking and clever enough to enjoy multiple partners with a minimum of emotional and financial commitment."

At Tilting at Windmills, Tom Knighton suggests that those Enlightened Lonely Hearts brought that pass upon themselves.  "It was always possible to empower women without trying to tear masculinity down, which is what has been happening."  In the end, they've been had.
Only it turns out they aren’t into the soy boys they’re finding on the left and are upset that those who still hold the values they find attractive aren’t interested in an ideology telling them to drop all of that.

Funny how that shakes out, isn’t it?
Maybe in a few millennia we got some things right.  Those contemporary mating practices, perhaps an evolutionary dead end.
