A GARDEN RAILWAY ON AN INTERURBAN SCALE.
Somewhere not far from Cold Spring Shops headquarters is the Rock River Valley Traction Company, which has some of the same preservation and restoration problems the full size museums have. Here a replica box motor that had suffered from years of deferred maintenance, while the property was changing hands, has been put back into service.
What the video also shows is that an outdoor railway, whether of traditional garden railroad dimensions, or built to a fractional scale, or a museum line, is subject to the encroachments of the wilderness.
Note: that is a proper interurban line, complete with overhead trolley wire.
Yes, First and Fastest a few years ago did a story on three such fractional-sized interurbans within a few hours' drive of Chicago. These operations are by invitation only and the article did not provide information that might help the casual reader or the vandal find out where they are. Probably helped keep the Rock River Valley in a condition only worsened by weather, raccoons, and underbrush while it was changing hands.

I heard about the existence of this years ago. Love to take a ride as it seems pretty unique.
