The Superintendent approves of the custom of naming locomotives, and reminds readers that the Boston and Maine Railroad solicited entries from New England schoolchildren, who provided inter alia East Wind, Ye Salem Witch, The Constitution, Camel's Hump, Independence, American Progress, and Rogers' Rangers.
