The petition was launched on the Brighton & Hove City Council website by Charles Ross on July 1 and argues that the titles the Duke and Duchess of Sussex received from Queen Elizabeth on their wedding day were "arbitrarily and unfairly acquired" and thus should be omitted.The petition characterizes the appointments as "non democratic and symbolic of the oppression of the general public by the wealthy elite." Not exactly a light and transient Cause that.
There's a prototype for throwing off these shackles, should Sussex republicans care to use it.
