BOURGEOIS CONVENTIONS CONFER EVOLUTIONARY ADVANTAGES.

Reason's Nick Gillespie interviews Grant "Anthropology and Economics" McCracken.  It's a podcast.  The main message might be "What America needs, says McCracken, is a rebirth of honor that demands we insist on basic standards of behavior, especially from those in positions of power, and that we also treat others as we ourselves would like to be treated: with respect and compassion."

That's probably not the way to garner clicks or eyeballs.

The problem is, once cooperation breaks down, and everybody is playing their grim strategy, finding a way back to a rationally cooperative equilibrium is hard. "Put another way, the majority-minority or more diverse or whatever nation the United States is likely to become will benefit more rather than less from a common set of norms."

Our Intellectual Betters think they are powerful, but they are weak.
