The corona scolding, dear reader, comes from the same sort of scolds who thought the Sturgis, South Dakota motorcycle rally would produce a story worthy of Albert Camus. Four hospitalizations and one death associated with that event in Minnesota, and I'm not persuaded that all the mortality being laid off on Festive Season gatherings more generally was a consequence of those gatherings.
The same people who were advising everyone to isolate at Thanksgiving are now advising everyone not to enjoy the Super Bowl. "The Biden administration would really prefer that people 'lay low' on Super Bowl Sunday." Yes, and the hard core Biden voters are probably fine with that. There's this school of thought in governance that views the population as if children to be supervised by credentialed nannies. It sounds harsh, but they might be winning the argument. "[T]he useful idiots of the mainstream media have given up all objectivity and are the direct descendants of Ponytail Man, existing only to make the Taxocrats look good."
I concur with John Hinderaker. "[D]on’t let the proto-fascists intimidate you into uninviting your family" Exactly. We were doing the right thing before the governors started issuing their ukases, and we can calculate our own risks better than those Credentialed Experts, who are enabled by like-minded voters to think of everyone, potential Democrat voter or not, as so many children to be led around.
