A service called Worldometers has been keeping track of coronavirus infections and deaths, disaggregated in a number of ways.
The latest report from Sweden counts 1,058,341 infections and 14,366 deaths.
The latest report from Illinois counts 1,376,441 infections and 25,011 deaths.
Conditions in Illinois are such that a transition to a full reopening is in order. Illinois is currently in the bridge phase, with an expected transition to a modified full reopening in mid-June, and most of the ukases remain in effect to the end of May. A number of businesses are publicly changing their mask requirements, we'll see whether the ukases will end with gubernatorial assent, or vanish by common consent. More people are opting not to bother with the masks in businesses that only recommend their use.

If I have to keep extending this post until Anthony Fauci comes to his senses, or resigns, or until the governor is primaried, or until the ukases are vacated, or until the cows come home, I will.
The state continues to administer vaccines. The latest count is nearly eleven million injections (the page doesn't disaggregate among finished and pending) and the latest count of those scary variants notes all of 7,700.
Last week, the governor trailed by 10,520. Note the time series: a margin of terror that used to be growing by hundreds in a week is growing by around a hundred, or less. The body count is growing faster than the variant count. The details for the past six months are on page 2.
