MEMORIAL DAY RAILROAD READING.

Classic Trains contributor and longtime Passenger Rail maven Kevin P. Keefe calls the roll of trains honoring members of the military.  On the honor roll is The Pennsylvania Railroad's Red Arrow, so named for the 32nd Infantry Division.  "The Pennsylvania didn’t stop with the Red Arrow. On April 28, 1929, it debuted the new Rainbow, a Chicago–New York train named for another gallant World War I outfit, the 42nd Infantry Division, or Rainbow Division. This time, the credit for the name goes directly to PRR railroaders."  In addition, The Pennsylvania Railroad had trains named for generic flag officers, namely The General and The Admiral.  Streamliner honors included Burlington's General Pershing Zephyr.
