Spare me the pretentious fanfares, the reference to barns and rinks as "venues," the invented sports, the latest ice skater that I'm supposed to get excited about, and the totalitarian pageantry. It doesn't even pay to host an Olympics any more, perhaps the best thing to happen to Chicago was being first excused in the 2016 selection. Didn't I see someplace that only Brisbane, Australia, prepared a bid for the 2032 Games?
