WHEN THE FOX RIVER INTERURBAN RAN SOUTH OF THE FOREST PRESERVE.

The Fox River Trolley Museum is one of the few electric preservation railways that has a car running on its home rails.  It's a relatively small collection that includes a few other "oldest" and "only" surviving cars, and well worth a look, even with the season winding down.

Hicks Car Works has posted another of its Illinois interurban retrospectives, this one featuring the Fox River Line as an active carrier in the 1920s.  Beware of elephants!
