GET WELL CARDS FOR AARON RODGERS.

I wondered if the Gods of Politeness might not have thrown a penalty flag on Milwaukee's Jack's American Pub basing a drinks-on-the-house promotion based on the New York Jets losing a game that Aaron Rodgers started.  Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending injury on his first series, some patrons recalculated the probability of drinks being on the house, and then the Jets walked the game off with an overtime punt return.

The pub would still like to have customers for football games not involving the Packers, and the owners have called an audible.
"Rodgers starting was a stipulation of the original promotion ...," Jack's wrote in a statement Thursday. "Now that this promotion has been rendered null and void, after the unfortunate injury suffered, it has been decided to reverse the drink special in solidarity with the Jets."
Now the fans must open their tab before play commences, and their rooting interest is in the Jets winning.
If the Jets win, the pub will pay your drink tab for the game, as long as you open your tab 15 minutes before kickoff and stay for the entire game. The promotion still excludes food, top shelf liquor, pitchers and shots.

The deal will run through the entire regular season, for all Jets games except when the Jets play at the same as the Packers. (Understandably, Jack's will be featuring Packers games in those instances).

"Before the season started, the intention of the original promotion was for people to gather and have fun watching the Jets game," Jack's statement said. "We would never wish injury on any player, especially one that has been so important to the success of the Green Bay Packers for many years. While it's sad to see how things played out during the first Jets game, the ownership and staff of Jack's American Pub are all wishing the best for Aaron Rodgers, his recovery and the New York Jets!"
We'll take stock of the promotion once the playoff picture becomes clearer.
