RENDER HONORS TO THE REVIEWING STAND.

Oktoberfest season begins along the Great Lakes with Milwaukee's German Fest.  In Germany, there's only one Oktoberfest, in München, and that opens Saturday.  The German local festival is more likely to be a Schützenfest, and those come in all varieties.  Here's a parade from Süchteln-Hagen, which appears to be a smaller community, and the parade is smaller.  The beer and dancing are probably as good, and there might be carnival rides, exactly as at the larger events.

The parade is genuine and charming.  Note the youngsters carrying hand-lettered signs introducing the various participants, and the variety of honors being rendered as the groups pass in review.

That is all until next week, I have fall chores to tend to and an Oktoberfest to go to.
