BYRON BUXTON GETS CAUGHT IN A RUN-DOWN.

Fortunately, it was not on the base-paths, and he was not tagged out by a bratwurst.
Byron Buxton provided an excellent demonstration of why you should always look both ways before exiting the dugout on Tuesday.

The Minnesota Twins star nearly put himself at risk of the mother of all weird baseball injuries in the middle of the sixth inning of a road game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, when he emerged from the dugout not realizing the Brewers' iconic sausage race was underway.

Buxton didn't realize his error until he was standing squarely in the path of Sausage No. 1, aka Bratwurst. The outfielder at least showed pro athlete reflexes in getting out the way after looking behind himself.
Roll the tape!
The sausage race has been going on for a long time, with additional treats taking the starting line, and different sponsors buying the naming rights.  (Still no Mash the Banger!)  It's rare for players to inject themselves into the race.  It was inadvertent for Mr Buxton.  For Pittsburgh's Randall Simon, it might have been bad karma.  "Was it Steve Bartman's fan interference or former Pirate Randall Simon's interference with the Polish sausage that kept the Cubs out of the World Series?"

Let the record show that the kielbasa won the Wednesday race.
