On their list are four flags that are in the Cold Spring Shops rotation: Old Glory, Betsy Ross, Alamo, and the Navy Jack of the early years of this century. The Flag Code neither forbids nor discourages use of older flags, which means there's a 48 star version up for several days in June as well as V-E and V-J Days and December 7; a 36 star version for Juneteenth and often for the first few days of July; a Liberty Tree often flies on Independence Day; and the Betsy Ross is on hand for Flag Day. There is, of course, a suitable flag hoist for Mondays after Packer victories.
Sometimes, the best way to prevent a symbol being appropriated by others for their own purposes is to continue to use it for your purposes. A Betsy Ross flag hoist for Flag Day is not of itself an endorsement of the Tea Party or Christian nationalism, nor is Appeal to Heaven on Independence Day a bat-signal to Trump voters. Did you know that there are carvings of that tree on Nova Scotia's Oak Island: was some of the treasure used by Freemasons to finance the War of Independence?
Display what you wish, and disabuse anyone who is curious (most people mind their own business) of any Deeper Symbolism that you don't necessarily endorse.
