BEAT THE TRAFFIC. It's difficult enough driving into Chicago under normal circumstances, and many people use the suburban trains for recreational trips. It is not uncommon for the Saturday afternoon hourly service on the Burlington line to run in two sections, a relief train running as a second section ot the previous trip, leaving five minutes ahead of the scheduled regular train, making the first stop at Downers Grove. (Normal Saturday service is locals on one- or two-hour headways.) There is ample extra service after the fireworks -- note the Metra Electric running in streetcar fashion (load and go). Flyers are available on train and at many stations detailing the extra service, and noting the no-drinking rules, the placement of the family coaches, and the usual departure tracks for the service.
