Glenn "Insta Pundit" Reynolds notes that for the past fifty years, the time horizon for practical fusion energy has been "sometime in the next fifteen years."  Apparently a little more patience is possible where the expected payoffs are large.  The figure of merit for an extension of Metra service to DeKalb, for the past forty years, has been ten years.
