COUNTRIES HAVE PERMANENT INTERESTS.

A seventeen ship Carrier Group is at sea in the Pacific.  "The fleet is comprised of aircraft carriers HMS Queen Elizabeth, JS Ise, USS Ronald Reagan and the USS Carl Vinson in addition to the JS Kirishima, JS Yamagiri, USS Shiloh, USS Lake Champlain, USS The Sullivans, USS Chafee, HMS Kent, HMS Defender, RFA Fort Victoria, RFA Tidespring, HNLMS Evertsen, HMCS Winnipeg and HMNZS Te Kahan."  Do I have to binge-watch my old tapes of Victory at Sea?  There's the small detail that China and Japan have switched sides for now, but a carrier group that includes two of the U.S. supercarriers plus Queen Elizabeth ought to concentrate a few minds at the Peoples Liberation Army Navy.  Note, too, some of the names.  Kirishima might have been the first battleship sunk by radar-controlled shelling, near Guadalcanal, and The Sullivans refers to five brothers assigned to the same ship, who were lost with that ship, also in the Pacific.  In that previous war, Ise was a converted cruiser equipped with a short deck to provide carrier capacity after Midway.
