I like the attitude of the Border Patrol Union.  First, speaking truth to power.  "We handed them the most secure border in the history of the United States and a roadmap to keep it that way and make it even better. Through 94 executive actions, President Biden completely destroyed border security."  Then undermining the boss with mockery.

Dementia Joe is getting a conscience about the border only because it's not polling well for him.  Yes, it is the nature of a representative republic for elected officials changing their stances in response to Popular Opinion.  We can do better, by electing representatives whose stances align with ours from the beginning, rather than on the expediency of the latest polls.  And by turfing out the sort of politician who blames his opposition or the voters for his difficulties.
