JUST KICK THE FIELD GOAL.

If you're playing a game in South Bend, you might as well expect difficult ball spots to be resolved in Notre Dame's favor, as well as the operation of the game clock to be hinky.  Yes, I have receipts, and I'll get to that anon.  You take care of business.

In like manner, if you're seeking national office, you might as well expect the reporters to have the sentimentalities of college sophomores, and that difficult propositions will be resolved in the Permanent Government's favor.  If you're Donald Trump, you let Kamala Harris goad you into pitchman mode.

That man has been his own worst enemy.  It does no good to complain about home town calls.

You kick the field goal.  That didn't happen, and all the post-mortems from the likes of Red State's Brandon Morse might not help.

If Kamala Harris needs help from moderators and a rigged debate to survive, should she be in charge of the free world?

Upon reflection, it's not a good look for Harris. Voters who were already locked on for Harris might not mind it, and in fact, they might have even enjoyed the three-on-one team up, but for everyone else, there's the very real danger that it gives off a look of weakness and elitism. It definitely strips the "strong woman" vibe she's trying to push for out of her hands, which Trump expertly mocked last night during the debate as well.

Harris was already fighting an uphill battle due to the fact that she's part and parcel of the administration that put many people here to begin with. Now she's being protected by the same media that's been telling everyone that the inflation is good, or even their fault, and has continuously lied about their predicament despite it being self-evident?

Once the videos and the commentary start leaking down into normie world, the question above is going to pop up. This will ultimately be seen as a media fumble, and one that probably endears Trump to the public even more. It's usually the pattern that happens when the left tries to screw Trump over in some fashion.

At this point, we're in wait and see mode.

It's still on Mr Trump to make the case that the "opportunity economy" is more tax slavery.  Touting rally attendance or carrying on about illegal aliens going duck hunting in the retention pond won't do it.

Never mind that the Harris campaign asking to schedule another debate might be evidence the Jarrett regency isn't closing the sale on installing another figurehead.  Never mind that the postgame show on MSNBC doesn't feature Rachel Maddow smirking.

Never mind that Team Normal can run all sorts of criticism of the moderators.  That's cathartic.  Warning: Megyn is cute when she's using words you might not want to use in mixed company.

It doesn't get the field goal kicked.  Home town calls are a thing in sports.  Home town interjections are a thing in politics.  Just kick the field goal.  Here's how it's done.  Somebody edited together the NBC tape of Northern Illinois winning with the radio coverage on WLBK, and yes, the final two minutes or so of the game lasted seventeen minutes.  And some of that was replay reviews.  It starts with Northern Illinois converting a fourth and two.  Note: in college games, a time-out on the field doesn't always trigger a cut to a commercial.

Crank up the volume!  "Clock should start on 'ready to play'" at 1'23" to go.  A few seconds pass.  The questionable spot comes at 43" to go, the broadcasters are not seeing the replay video NBC Sports was showing.  Huskie Nation contend that was a first down.  Notre Dame's officials and the video reviewers ruled otherwise.   Six minutes into the video, "Guys, remember where you're at.  You're not going to get a favorable spot."  All you have to do is get the field goal kicked.  GOOOOOOD!

In like manner, Team Trump and the Republicans must stay focused on the borders, the crime, the macroeconomic torpor, and national security.  Taylor Swift and all the college sophomores in the Democrat base, and their willing accomplices in the media, don't have workable answers for any of those.
