THEORRHEA WORKS AGAINST SOCIAL SCIENCE.

Reason's "Tom Lehrer Satirized the National Security State From the Inside" connects the dots between Mr Lehrer's work with the National Security Agency and a number of his songs, including Poisoning the Pigeons in the Park.  (And maybe we'll throw in a squirrel or two ...)

The article also includes Mr Lehrer performing a number of songs making fun of mathematics, and social scientists "in an ivory steeple ... away from people ... and do really great tricks ... in the name of sociology."

That performance took place sometime in 1997, as the references to Ted Kaczynski and Andrew Wiles confirm, in a mathematics classroom probably somewhere on the west coast: alas, the resolution isn't quite good enough to illustrate his scribbling of the word "minimum" in the style of a Fourier transformation!  Although Mr Lehrer might have cracked wise about "sliding down the razor blade of life," he stayed in good humor well after he stopped performing.
