WILL THE IMMIGRATION AUTHORITIES FAST-TRACK HIS CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION, SHOULD HE FILE ONE?

By way of comic relief, we have a new man without a country?  "Prince Harry officially renounces British residency, lists US as his ‘new country’ on documents."

We're not to the petition for citizenship stage yet, as the article refers to information given on the paperwork filed by a British non-profit organization, rather than a citizenship application Stateside.

In 2020, Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, 42, relocated to America, where they now live with their kids Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2, in Montecito, Calif., in a move dubbed “Megxit.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were evicted from their UK home, Frogmore Cottage — which the late queen gifted them following their 2018 wedding.

They finally vacated it in 2023, which left them with no official UK residence.

Mr Windsor-Battenberg is married to a U.S. citizen, and has resided in the States almost long enough to be able to file an application for citizenship.  Undoubtedly the application forms have changed in 150 years and there's something different from the "I renounce all allegiance to Wilhelm Emperor of Germany" that my great-grandfather signed off in around 1890.  He was a subject of der Kaiser who knew a thing or two about threshing machines.

There's one for the history books, though, in a citizenship petition including "I renounce all allegiance to Charles III King of England," autographed by said king's younger son.
