IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE WEATHER, WAIT.

The weather bureau recently provided a description of last week's hot spell.

It's back to drab and cool by seasonal standards today, but not this bad.

And this year, the warm weather has come mostly with the lengthening of daylight.  Ten years ago, it was another story.  "I should be grateful we're not seeing a rerun of 2012, when there were 80 degree temperatures in mid-March, and a hard freeze in April that wrought havoc with plants already well leafed-out."

Plants are on hand for this year's Victor E. Garden, and the local plowing is under way.  It's not yet time to panic.

The current newest comment to Stephen Green's post notes, "I can't speak for the Great Plains, but the Upper Midwest had a long, cold, wet spring which no doubt delayed planting. In other words, weather, rather than conspiracy or incompetence."  The fertilizer is expensive, where it is available (there will be opportunities to do some reconaissance in the next week or so) and what does come in at harvest will not be cheap.
