The identity of the Green Bay Packers is changing right in front of our eyes.
It’s clear that the Packers are creating, at minimum, a more balanced football team, and at maximum, a team that thrives on defense.
That would be the 1962 team, and to this day the Lions still roar about putting that blemish on Vince Lombardi's record. (The coach's response? "You didn't expect us to win them all, did you?") That team allowed 148 points in a fourteen game season, and won the title game (there was only one, none of this wild card and divisional and conference stuff) in Yankee Stadium.
It isn't enough to get to the playoffs. "And right now, for the first time in a long time, their strength is on D." That's right, dear reader, sixty years is a long time.
