From the Brightline Safety and Security Team: Railroad safety is a community wide effort. For everyone’s safety, never drive around crossing gates when they are down. pic.twitter.com/6TSeHHOuyq

Brightline's trains have had a lot of avoidable close encounters of the wrong kind with pedestrians and motorists and whenever one occurs, people who should know better say foolish things. "There was clearly some lack of communication between emergency services and the people running the bullet train."
No. Watch the video. The collision is the most easily preventable, as the driver of the fire truck has an unobstructed view of the approaching train. Many crossing collisions involving a second train involve someone darting out from behind the first train to clear the crossing: in this instance, from the right, and the driver or pedestrian has no opportunity to see the second train. I do not want to get into a third possibility, where somebody attempts to beat a train to the crossing, not aware of a second train coming the other way. When that happens the collision can affect both trains as well as the driver or pedestrian who took a long chance.
Four Delray Beach firefighters have been placed on leave pending an investigation. "Fire Chief Ronald Martin said Assistant Chief Kevin Green, Division Chief Todd Lynch, Captain Brian Fiorey, and Driver Engineer David Wyatt have been placed on leave with pay 'pending the results of an internal administrative investigation to determine if City and Fire Rescue policies and procedures were followed.'" If that investigation includes higher ranking White Shirts as well as the operator and officer in command on the truck, perhaps future train crews and Delray Beach first responders will be spared a repeat.
Expect train movements at any time, on any track, in either direction. That is all.
