The powered display track at Cold Spring Shops headquarters went into operation first, in part to provide a place for running-in motive power before installing remote control and placing it in service, and in part to provide train-watching while the work of assembling cars or building trackwork goes on.

I've compiled another series of various trains, not all of which are thematically proper for the main layout, going through their paces.

There are certainly a lot of things going on in the world to fret about.  Occasional winter relief is good.  Enjoy.
