"We're not going to get legitimate institutions again until we unwind the overly high expectations produced by High Modernism, and the best way to do that is to stop expecting government to solve all your problems." By their fruits, as the saying goes. "The practitioners of the conventional wisdom seem to screw up massively whenever it counts."
10. Say no to the rent-seekers. "Your job managing a city’s resources is to be a good steward of public finances, not to 'subsidize the elite.'"
11. The tragic vision. "Countries with cuddly capitalism can free-ride on the innovations from cutthroat leaders while providing better social protections to their citizens."
12. Delusional radical chic? "She correlated violence with the failures of Obamacare." Precisely. "The 'people' jumping for joy over the murder of Brian Thompson for running a company that administers the metaphorical institutional 'death panel', exactly as foretold, are the same class of gerbils who said that was no way, no how anything Obamacare was about."
13. Emphatically, yes. "If bureaucratic mouthpieces were held responsible by the media for spreading mistruths with greater regularity, perhaps they would feel more incentivized to tell the truth."
14. Drones sighted over Credibility Gap. "The federal government appears to be attempting to walk a fine line between selectively omitting facts which it may believe could cause panic, and dismissing the reality of what’s visible in the sky and been reported by New Jersey law enforcement."
16. We are citizens, not subjects. "There is no duty to accept all of Trump’s proposals." Like all political bundles, his is too big.
17. No kidding. "The federal government has grown too big, promised too much, subsidized too many, undercut states' rights, and lost control of the budget."
18. Finally? "Musk and Ramaswamy are bringing a long-needed seriousness to the GOP’s alleged effort to cut spending."
19. Modern monetary idiocy. "You’re still overspending, you still probably have inflation, but now you’re not paying interest on it."
21. E-T-T-S, on the rails. "Amtrak is a mere shadow of what passenger trains were." Heck, Amtrak is a mere shadow of what Amtrak trains once were.
23. E-T-T-S, in the classroom. “The masculine space of STEM education can be alienating for those who identify as women (henceforth, referred to as women).” Heck, it reinforces whiteness, as well.
24. Chicago sports. The Bears still suck. The Sox still suck. "And now the 'Guaranteed' is being dropped, which is fitting since there are no guarantees when Jerry Reinsdorf owns your team." Apart from the suckitude, that is.
25. Televised sports, with players skilled at dogging it. "There are far too many timeouts, traveling, fouls (called and missed) and seemingly always comes down to the last 2 minutes, which takes as long as the rest of the game had, for me to be interested. It’s like watching an NFL game with a flag-happy referee crew."
