Mr Obama's condescension finally backfired. "The more Trump polled even with, or ahead of, Kamala Harris, the more an exasperated and ignored Obama talked down to supposedly low-information voters."
Should anyone really be surprised by what comes next? "There’s a longstanding frustration that our culture has gotten corrupted and that our institutions are letting us down. And it’s manifesting in increasingly violent imagery, rhetoric, and, occasionally, action." Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties. "The Democrats are a party of, by, and for neurotic privileged weirdos, and they hold too many influential positions to be easily shaken loose." Let the shaking commence. "The current crew, not their proposed Trump replacements, prompted the sick and tired American people to demand different people." Even if that meant breaking some glass. "Four years of Joe Biden caused the electorate to reassess Donald Trump."
The weekly round-up of mostly pithy elaborations on traditional Cold Spring Shops themes follows.
1. Lefty logic lures loonies. Or the first wife from hell? "Modern left-progressivism is built around the identifiable archetype of the scold or nag." They have trouble coping. "Boys have a boy sense of humor."
3. Drill, baby, drill. "The Ukraine war may end in Riyadh."
4. Bet on emergence. "Authoritarianism thrives when 'the credentialed' presume to know best."
5. Defeat them, don't become them. "Trump has the opportunity to deliver popular results as president that will make him stronger and his enemies weaker." What's the over-under on that happening?
6. Deconstruct this! "The best way to dissolve society is by pouring acid on it."
7. Indeed. "Pages of regulation, not the number of people employed in government, are the first thing that should be drained."
8. Tradeoffs, everywhere. "'The motor car is too recent as a form of transportation to enable any final judgment. . . . It has helped to add to the congestion of the street while greatly aiding the movement of people and goods' and has brought 'increased . . . dangers' and 'problems.'"
9. Put a bow on a crazy year. "Kind of wild to see the sitting president chatting up the next Hitler, but here we are."
10. Inframarginal, indeed. "To worry that the American electorate will be mislead by artificial intelligence in any way that worsens political outcomes is akin to worrying that a man drowning in the Pacific ocean will be made worse off by the sudden appearance of a small rain shower off the coast of California."
11. Be modest. "Modern science still knows more about the dark side of the moon than about how the brain mis-wires itself."
12. Behold the male lesbian! "The professor refers to 'her' self as a 'trans dyke' and has written extensively about transgender issues, including the articles 'Pseudoscience Has Long Been Used to Oppress Transgender People,' 'Backlash to transgender health care isn’t new—but faulty science used to justify it has changed over time,' and 'Gender-affirming care has a long history, though anti-trans laws pretend it’s ‘untested.’'"
13. The absence of testable implications betrays it. "Most people who study critical theory recognize it as vacuous ideological nonsense, peddled without evidence or rigor. It only 'works' for them when they protect it as their own proprietary academic turf and pretend everyone else lacks the sophistication to understand it."
15. Much of the fan base thinks so. "Does the WNBA belong to black and LGBT players? Are straight, white players condemned to be otherized for having the audacity to play in their league?"

What's unfortunate that Democrats are unwilling or unable to concede the failure of their most ambitious policies. Once again they are enthralled by ideas that sound good, not ones that actually work.
