WHEN YOUR CITY IS RESIDUALLY INHABITED BY ...

It's been a theme here for years to call out ward-heeler politicians "whose continuing tenure depends on desperate voters who keep voting for those politicians, despite the total failure of such politicians to do anything that improves the condition of those voters."  Ralph Nader, Insta Pundit, and a street artist with a sense of humour have done likewise, in more visible outlets.  Now comes Via Media, on what happens when Detroit is residually inhabited by ... no longer Rosie the Riveter.
Since the 1960s, Democrats have supported a model that, at its worst, is characterized by corrupt political machines that rule in de facto single-party urban enclaves. They are propped up by state and federal subsidies and show little to no interest in effective management, economically sustainable development policies, anti-corruption efforts, or school performance.
It's not limited to the cities ... look at this list of the states that are losing population.
