In an online presentation to McGill University of Canada, Fauci showed his true colors. Regarding the rights of an individual, Fauci said, “as a member of society, reaping all the benefits of being a member of society, you have a responsibility to society, and I think each of us, particularly in the context of a pandemic that’s killing millions of people, you have got to look at it and say there comes a time when you do have to give up what you consider your individual right of making your own decision for the greater good of society.”That's the potted version of the Welfare Economics Paradigm trotted out by the nomenklatura to justify their (in the case of Schnickel Fritz) inconsistent directives.
It might have come to this, though, because fifty or sixty years of deconstructing bourgeois norms has brought us to a state where "if it feels good, do it" includes going out in public when the sensible thing to do is stay home, catch up on clearing out the paper clutter, and cooking some chicken soup. Let me refresh your memory, dear reader. "I claim no special knowledge about 'right and good.' I suspect, however, that there is strong overlap among 'moral grounds' and 'bourgeois convention' and 'evolutionary advantage for adopters.'"
Schnickel Fritz, I note, has backed away from that "cancel Christmas" interpretation of his advice. He still ought recognize that each of us, in our own way, understands that what we do affects others, and perhaps he'd be respected more if he respected that.
