The Iowa Interstate Railroad purchased two mudsuckers from China that generally run in excursion service, helping local volunteer fire companies and the like raise money, although one of them set a 21st century world record for heaviest freight train (but not longest freight train) pulled by a steam locomotive.

The one active mudsucker is due for its elapsed time inspection, and it might be going into storage for some time.  Not, though, before moving a few more freight cars in Iowa.  "The aim is to use the remaining coal for the locomotives before they are placed in storage."  Waste not, want not.
