It's been a while since we looked in on the model railroad.  Winter approaches (although the hint of frost is still many days away) and the heavy construction resumes.

First, what is the point of commissioning a basement under the garage, if not to run the tracks under it?

The flexible ventilator hose is for the paint booth, which will go in that corner, and tracks above it.

Once upon a time, there was lots of open space in the main basement.

A little carpentry here, a little hammer-drilling there, and a lot of gluing and clamping spline and here we are.

The narrowest spot in the walk-around aisle is by that support column.  There might be a motion detector connected to a fog-horn in the Schafer Shoals lighthouse, to alert anybody who seems to be run aground at that spot.
