AMERICANS MISSING FROM THE AMERICA'S CUP. The challenge for the right to race the other Lake Geneva Yacht Club (which is defending the America's Cup in Spanish waters) is between Luna Rossa Challenge, an Italian syndicate that has placed or showed in recent competitions, and Emirates Team New Zealand, currently ahead 2-0 (if memory served, the Kiwis treated an earlier Luna Rossa rather badly in New Zealand waters in 2000). That "Emirates" refers to a corporate sponsor (under the latest rules, sailors do more flying as they are allowed to declare a country and a syndicate in advance of the challenge) and I don't expect to be hearing about any Dubai ports should the international crew sailing as Team New Zealand win the Cup. (I'm due for another New Year's trip Down Under anyway.)
