NOT QUITE THE POLAR VORTEX.

Just before the New Year, the State Line experienced a nasty mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain, followed by a cold snap, but not too cold, meaning there was a lot in the way of frozen fog on the trees.  Here's a look at Cold Spring Shops headquarters.

Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel photographer Mike De Sisti went on walkabout with some panoramic and some close-up shots of the same phenomenon.

The sun has come out enough that much of the natural flocking has gone away here.  The long-term weather forecast, though, anticipates a polar vortex, perhaps in time for the first Packer playoff games.
