Yes. Complex adaptive systems tend to do what they d**n well please. And "I'm sorry for the consequences that were unintended" happens to come with anything the Wise Experts tell us is For Our Own Good. "Granting the exclusive rights of dealing with everyday problems to an institutional class of professionals wasn’t the best way, it was the only way. But not anymore." (Emphasis in the original.) It may have appeared to be the only way. But never was it the best way. Modern information technologies simply allow people to discover and circulate the evidence of Expert Failure in a more productive way.
